General Purpose

To endow Health and Safety professionals with knowledge and skills for the prevention and protection from activity hazards associated to the evaluation and management of noise and vibration at work, allowing for the renewal of the CCP (former CAP) certification.

Specific Goals

At the end of the course the trainees should be able to:

– Identify and interpret the risk factors associated with noise and vibration.

– Identify and interpret the European community directive requirements and national legislation requirements on noise and vibration.

– Describe the evaluation methodologies and noise and vibration control techniques.

– Identify equipment for noise and vibration exposure assessments.

– Carry out assessments of noise and vibration exposure of workers.

– Implement strategies of noise and vibration management in the workplace.

– The effects of noise on workers

– International Standards: ISO 9612

– Noise monitoring equipment

– Simulated practice session

– Rules for the preparation of reports

Modulus II – Vibrations (12h)

– Fundamental concepts on vibration

– The effects of vibration on workers

– Vibration monitoring equipment

– Simulated practice session

– Evaluation of the daily personal exposure dose level

Architects and Engineers; Senior students of Engineering and Architectural degrees; Senior staff within building companies.

Geral Purpose

To endow the recipients of the basic theory and practical knowledge required for the preparation of standard building acoustics projects.

Specific Goals

At the end of the course the trainees should be able to:

Apply the current requirements and define additional comfort criteria.

Calculate the acoustic performance of typical constructions.

Apply corrections due to flanking.

Organize and prepare an acoustic project of a standard building.
